Homemade Dog Food

This is Frida! She's a rescue from Mexico and was only a puppy when we got her.

She is the sweetest girl and I think she rescued us, cause I don't know what we'd do without her!

I started making her homemade food and wasn't sure if she would like it or not. Turns out, she LOVES IT!

So below is the recipe. Let me know what you think and if you've tried other recipes.

  • 6 cups water

  • 1 pound ground turkey

  • 2 cups brown rice

  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

  • ½ (16 ounce) package frozen broccoli, carrots and cauliflower combination

Directions

Place the water, ground turkey, rice, and rosemary into a large Dutch oven. Stir until the ground turkey is broken up and evenly distributed throughout the mixture; bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the frozen vegetables and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Refrigerate until using. **I use fresh veggies and steam them before adding to meat and rice*

This is what it looks like after I've steamed the veggies and added to the meat and rice.

This is what it looks like when it's done!

Sometimes I switch the recipe and use ground beef.

Either way she is so good when it comes time to eat!
